THE STUMBLING STONE –
CHRIST JESUS
Romans
9:29-33 (KJV)
29 And as Esaias said before, Except the Lord of Sabaoth had left us a seed, we had been as Sodoma, and been made like unto Gomorrha. 30 What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, which followed not after righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith. 31 But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, hath not attained to the law of righteousness. 32 Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone; 33 As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a stumblingstone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

29 As Isaiah prophesied, If the Lord of the heavenly forces had not left descendants for us,
we would have been like Sodom, and we would have become like Gomorrah.[a]30 So what are we going to say? Gentiles who weren’t striving for righteousness achieved righteousness, the righteousness that comes from faith. 31 But though Israel was striving for a Law of righteousness, they didn’t arrive. 32 Why? It’s because they didn’t go for it by faith but they went for it as if it could be reached by doing something. They have tripped over a stumbling block. 33 As it is written: Look! I’m putting a stumbling block in Zion, which is a rock that offends people.
And the one who has faith in him will not be put to shame.[b]

righteousness – ONLY way
