LESSON 8

THE DIFFERENCE

1 John 2:19-25 (KJV)

¹⁹They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us. ²⁰But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things. ²¹I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth. ²²Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son. ²³Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also. ²⁴Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father. ²⁵And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life.

¹⁹They went out from our number, but they did not [really] belong to us; for if they had been of us, they would have remained with us. But [they withdrew] that it might be plain that they all are not of us.²⁰But you have been anointed by [you hold a sacred appointment from, you have been given an unction from] the Holy One, and you all know [the Truth] or you know all things.²¹I write to you not because you are ignorant and do not perceive and know the Truth, but because you do perceive and know it, and [know positively] that nothing false (no deception, no lie) is of the Truth. ²²Who is [such a] liar as he who denies that Jesus is the Christ (the Messiah)? He is the antichrist (the antagonist of Christ), who [^[a]habitually] denies and refuses to acknowledge the Father and the Son. ²³No one who [^[b]habitually] denies (disowns) the Son ^[c]even has the Father. Whoever confesses (acknowledges and has) the Son has the Father also. ²⁴As for you, keep in your hearts what you have heard from the beginning. If what you heard from the first dwells and remains in you, then you will dwell in the Son and in the Father [always]. ²⁵And this is what He Himself has promised us--the life, the eternal [life].

Ø  Those who chose not to follow Christ and/or us

Ø  Not of us, went out – shows clearly they were not of/with us

2.    US… VS. 20-25

Ø  Have an unction (anointing – AMP) from The Holy One (Christ)

Ø  Know all things (pertaining to the Truth) and have Christ

Ø  Liars don’t know the Truth and have not Christ

Ø  This assures us of eternal life – THE life
