STUDIES IN ROMANS
LESSON 62
THE
BODY OF CHRIST – LIFE DIRECTIONS (2)
Romans
12:16-21 (KJV)
16 Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but
condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits. 17 Recompense
to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. 18 If
it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men. 19 Dearly
beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is
written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. 20 Therefore
if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing
thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. 21 Be
not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.
Romans
12:16-21 (CEB)
16 Consider everyone as equal, and don’t think that you’re better
than anyone else. Instead, associate with people who have no status. Don’t
think that you’re so smart.17 Don’t
pay back anyone for their evil actions with evil actions, but show respect for
what everyone else believes is good. 18 If
possible, to the best of your ability, live at peace with all people. 19 Don’t try to get revenge for yourselves, my dear friends, but
leave room for God’s wrath. It is written, Revenge belongs to me; I
will pay it back, says the Lord.[a] 20 Instead, If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him a
drink. By doing this, you will pile burning coals of fire upon his head.[b] 21 Don’t be defeated by evil, but defeat evil with good.
