LESSON

EXAMINATION
AND DECLARATION
Acts 4:5-10
King James Version (KJV)
5 And it
came to pass on the morrow, that their rulers, and elders, and scribes, 6 And Annas the high priest, and Caiaphas, and John, and Alexander,
and as many as were of the kindred of the high priest, were gathered together
at Jerusalem. 7 And
when they had set them in the midst, they asked, by what power, or by what name, have ye done this?
8 Then Peter,
filled with the Holy Ghost, said unto them, Ye rulers of the people, and
elders of Israel, 9 If we this day be examined of the good deed
done to the impotent man, by what means he is made whole; 10 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of
Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth
this man stand here before you whole.
Acts 4:5-10
Common English Bible (CEB)
5 The
next day the leaders, elders, and legal experts gathered in Jerusalem, 6 along with Annas the high priest, Caiaphas, John, Alexander, and others from the high
priest’s family. 7 They
had Peter and John brought before them and asked, “By what power or in what
name did you do this?” 8 Then
Peter, inspired by the Holy Spirit, answered, “Leaders of the people and elders, 9 are we being examined today because something good was done for a
sick person, a good deed that healed him? 10 If so, then you and all the people of Israel need to know that this
man stands healthy before you because of the name of Jesus Christ the
Nazarene—whom you crucified but whom God raised from the dead.
