ACCESS BY FAITH INTO GRACE (FAVOR)

Romans 5:1-5 (KJV)

5 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: ² By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. ³ And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; ⁴ And patience, experience; and experience, hope: ⁵ And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

Romans 5:1-5 (CEB)

5 Therefore, since we have been made righteous through his faithfulness^[a] combined with our faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. ² We have access by faith into this grace in which we stand through him, and we boast in the hope of God’s glory. ³ But not only that! We even take pride in our problems, because we know that trouble produces endurance, ⁴ endurance produces character, and character produces hope. ⁵ This hope doesn’t put us to shame, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.

1.    POSITION v.1

Ø  Justified by faith (made righteous – CEB)

Ø  Have peace with God

Ø  Through our Lord Jesus Christ

2.    PERSON v.2

Ø  Access is through Jesus

Ø  Into grace or the favor of God

Ø  In which we stand (take up firm residence)

Ø  Through Jesus

Ø  Glory (boast) in hope of achieving God’s glory (our portion)

3.    PROCESS v.3-4

Ø  Glory in tribulation (count it advantageous)

Ø  Tribulation (trouble) produces endurance (patience)

Ø  Patience produces experience (character)

Ø  Experience produces hope

4.    PRODUCT v.5

Ø  This hope doesn’t put us to shame (as if it could fail)

Ø  Why? Because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts

Ø  Through the Holy Spirit

Ø  Who has been given to us (made available and advised to be received)

LET US STAND IN GOD’S FAVOR PATIENTLY WITH HOPE, IN LOVE BY THE HOLY SPIRIT BECAUSE OF WHAT JESUS HAS DONE FOR US.
