STUDIES IN ROMANS
LESSON 68
A DAY
UNTO THE LORD
Romans
14:5-9 (KJV)
5 One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let
every man be fully persuaded in his own mind. 6 He
that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not
the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God
thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth
God thanks. 7 For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to
himself. 8 For whether we live, we live unto the
Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or
die, we are the Lord's. 9 For to this end Christ both
died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.
Romans
14:5-9 (CEB)
5 One person considers some days to be more sacred than others, while another person
considers all days to be the same. Each person must have their own convictions.6 Someone who thinks that a day is sacred,
thinks that way for the Lord. Those who eat, eat for the Lord, because they thank God. And
those who don’t eat, don’t eat for the Lord, and they thank the Lord too. 7 We don’t live for ourselves
and we don’t die for ourselves. 8 If we live, we live for the Lord, and if we die, we die for the
Lord. Therefore, whether we live or die, we belong to God. 9 This is why Christ died and
lived: so that he might be Lord of both the dead and the living.
